About McKenzie Institute International
Welcome to The McKenzie Institute International
The McKenzie Institute International is a Charitable Trust registered in New Zealand. The Institute’s objective is the worldwide promotion of the assessment, treatment, education and empowerment of patients with musculoskeletal disorders. This philosophy and treatment, developed by Robin Anthony McKenzie, is known worldwide as the McKenzie Method® of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy® or MDT.
The Institute is governed by a Board of Trustees comprising independent medical experts, the CEO, and a member of the McKenzie family.
The Institute’s International Committee, comprising senior members of the Institute, advises the International Board of Trustees on all educational matters relating to MDT.

Mission Statement
- To provide education in the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy to clinicians.
- To continuously develop the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy in line with current research.
- To promote the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy to all stake holders.
- To provide support to the Branches of the McKenzie Institute International and promote collaboration between them.
A global success story
Worldwide, the McKenzie Institute International is comprised of 28 branches, which maintain, and contribute to, the goals of the Institute in their respective countries. Beyond those countries with branches, the Institute also presents its education programme in a further 12 countries. The Institute continues to grow worldwide, and new branches are established on a regular basis.
The Institute comprises three regions – the Americas, Europe and Asia/Pacific (which also comprises Saudi Arabia and Nigeria).
